Born of Humble Roots
Green Mountain Taps (GMT), manufacturer of custom beer tap handles, was founded by Jason Gardner in his parents’ basement in Guilford, Vermont, in the late 1990s. As the business grew, the search started for a more suitable manufacturing space. In 2006, an old paper mill was purchased across the river in Hinsdale, New Hampshire, and was home for GMT for 19 years. We are back in Vermont as part of Maple Landmark, which has been creating and customizing tap handles for over 25 years.
Since those early days, Green Mountain Taps has grown tremendously to become a leader in the beer taps industry. We currently employ over 30 skilled full- and part-time employees. We specialize in producing tap handles and other related items made of wood, metal, and cast resin for the brewing industry.
The Evolution
GMT started primarily as a woodshop. However, as the industry changed, GMT has evolved with it. In response to the market, we have expanded beyond the woodshop to include a complete machine shop, a high-volume casting division, and an extensive design and graphic production department. In early 2025, the workshop expanded production with the move to Maple Landmark in Middlebury, Vermont.
The Crew
GMT employs people from different walks of life. We employ hard workers with various interests and hobbies, including woodworking, art, music, education, tattooing, brewing, child-rearing, and beer enthusiasm.
